In 1990 I graduated from the engineering department of the University of Russia. At the same time, I went through a two year Art Design evening school that had a great impact on my future. Even though I hold an engineering degree, I turned my efforts to the passion of my heart, to the call of my hands. In 1991 I started a business of artistic woodworking and trim carpentry. Myself, along with six employees, made and installed one-of-a-kind doors, stairs and trim work, often enhanced with hand carving and other decorative details.

In June 1997, my wife, daughter and I immigrated to Canada. In July I started working for a local contracting company and by 1998 became a self-employed business operator. I gained a broad range of Canadian experience performing residential home improvements in Kitchener Waterloo.  At the same time I didn’t give up my specialty woodworking but rather, developed it into new levels.
